Spotlight Web Services came to being as owner, developer and artist Gail Guirreri expanded her own needs for her art website, equineimpressions.com. With hundreds of paintings to her name an archive and publishing system would help her keep track of not only her art but often the art of non profit art shows requesting her help. One job that always took too much time was typing, formatting and printing art show wall cards. Why type in all the artwork information for online art show exposure then retype and format the same text for the cards or show lists? Why add the information on an artist website and then reenter the same information at the gallery or art show? Art Gallery Data became the central location for this information to be added and shared (API) between websites. Art Gallery Data was for all artists to enter their information and submit works of art to art shows. After a few years using the website Gail decided to upgrade the platform in a way that could expand to other industries. Having support code in multiple domains as Wordpress does make updates harder. Art Gallery Data database was merged into one with Equine Access and Farming Local Produce handling just a few websites but with growth opportunity to be exponential. Gail has focused her time on her own websites (and artwork) smoothing out the kinks and implementing SEO code the user never has to worry about. The investment is paying off with more and more features as fast as Gail can write. Her global view point makes these features easy to add and maintain.
